UpGuitarHill Students Credo
When it comes to our passion, UpGuitarHill nylon guitar students are really quite self-centered!
Our reason for this is simple:
We want to ensure that nothing sidetracks us, or frustrates us, or diminishes us in our primary goal, which is to play the nylon string guitar, each and every day for the rest of our lives.
As such our main aim in life is to strive to be Up Tone and Happy (and to try at all times to be in harmony with ourselves and our surroundings) as we walk forward along our guitar playing path. By striving to achieve and maintain this state we know that we will then naturally be more positive and productive, and if we are and if we focus this productivity on our nylon string guitar we will practice the instrument regularly and, as such, automatically start to play the instrument better.
This will give us more joy in life and cause us to become more up tone and happy.
And the cycle will repeat (play guitar / receive joy from our guitar activity / play more / more joy etc.), strengthening itself, and us with it.
The more we do this the easier the BE Positive and Constructive wheel will turn! BE a happy guitarist, DO what is required, HAVE the joy and benefits!
It is really that simple. Thus by taking control of, and focusing primarily on our nylon string guitar goal / passion, we will become "Cause Over Life", or in our specific case "Cause Over the nylon string (folk) Guitar"! Because of this we are open to any information that can help us towards achieving greater harmony in our lives.
In fact, we see ourselves as "nylon string guitar playing, Jonathan Livingston Seagull's of this world" and we strive, like Jonathan Gull, to soar higher and higher with our guitar each and every day.
We know that spending time, and playing our nylon string guitar, is our primary goal - for life! It is our "Raison d'etre. And we know that by investing in our guitar, as a best friend and constant companion, we are also investment into ourselves - for life.
---Looking at the above from an opposite point of view is also true---
If we are not finding the time to play guitar regularly, what is causing this and why?
Because UpGuitarHill offers a holistic teaching method I try to answer this complex question in the following areas within the web site:
To help the new student, advice can be found on how to remain focused on the guitar goal they have set for themselves in the Student Motivation web link. I highly recommend that the student read these points over and over as they are key to your success with guitar!
The part of the mind that can cause problems by stalling and frustrating forward momentum is discussed in detail (and solutions are offered to overcome this) in the Expanded Tone Scale and Reactive Mind web link.
These ideas are reinforced in Way to Happiness web page because it is here that the secret of a good and joyful (and productive life) can be found.
The student is also given an opportunity to meet Jonathan Livingston Seagull and see life through Jonathan Gull's eyes. Jonathan Gull should be an example to anyone who strives for success and excellence in life endeavors.
The Harmony Portal takes everything said before to a higher level with loads of advise on how to become cause over your own life, but (as this area includes quite of lot of esoteric stuff) this need only be accessed by the UpGuitarHill student if they want to.
Ultimately, it is hoped that the UpGuitarHill student will take the jewels of advice and wisdom offered in the above areas in order to be an up tone, nylon string guitar playing, Jonathan Livingston Seagull, who wants to fly faster and soar higher each and every day on the wings of guitar music - for life.
With the vision of playing the guitar as a spiritual activity, then the following should sum up your intention:
To strive to invest time into your nylon string guitar passion each day of your life so that you will grow as a guitarist. Your nylon string guitar will become your very best friend and an extension of your being, keeping you company and bringing you (and others) joy for the rest of your life!
Remember that everything said here about guitar can apply to any passion or hobby you have!
Just try not to put too much hay on your fork. Know that it is it is easy to become a jack of all trades but by doing so you run the risk of being a master of none! Rather focus on key goals that you have set for yourself and which you will be able to achieve. For the nylon string guitar a regular half an hour each and every day will produce results. But a mad effort for a few weeks which then dries up to no effort thereafter, due to burn out, is not going to be a successful strategy and will not produce results or success in the long term.
Always remember; your guitar is your very best friend for life!
