The UpGuitarHill teaching secret to your success is this:
To avoid confusion and frustration when learning guitar (and possibly giving up as many have done before) you (as a beginner) must immediately reward yourself, by first learning to play songs for nylon guitar!
Why do I say this?
1. The nylon string guitar has soft strings (unlike a steel string guitar and electric guitar) and is the guitar of choice for beginners. This is especially important because many beginner guitarists are put off because it takes time to get used to pushing sensitive fingers onto the guitar fretboard to sound out chords properly. Remember that with a little practice your fingers will toughen up and pressing chords (and forming chords with your fingers) becomes second nature.
2. It is quite difficult to learn to read music initially. At better easier way to start getting into guitar is to learn songs. Set aside time to walk up the 15 steps UpGuitarHill and by the time you summit you will be ready to start learning guitar music (if you want to) is my advice to you.
And songs you learn to play must be carefully worked out by your teacher, each new song building in complexity and carefully paced to suite your playing level; teaching you only the guitar techniques and skills you need, to take the next step!
The goal of UpGuitarHill:
What UpGuitarHll aims to avoid:
This ensures, step by step, a song a step, that you will be playing nylon guitar well in no time at all!
UpGuitarHill lessons are also student teacher interacting which means you will always be able to get assistance from your teacher as you learn.
As I teach folk guitar with strumming and fingerpicking, in addition to beginners, a student with a little experience playing guitar (normally strumming easy songs to a few chords) will also benefit (and obtain a good grounding in fingerpicking) if they start at the beginning of UpGuitarHill and then walk through all the steps UpGuitarHill with me.
Remember that all studens are different. If you experience difficulties with the course you are urged to contact me. If I am aware of the difficulty you experience I can assist you! Your advice will also be used to further smooth out the gradient of the course, benefitting yourself and others who follow.
Always remember; your guitar is your very best friend for life!
